About CalQuest and this policy
CalQuest is a calorie-tracking and fitness game app operated by CalQuest. If you have any questions about this policy, please email us at calquestai@gmail.com.
Last updated: September 2026. We will update this page whenever our practices change and will note the revision date here.
What we collect and why
We collect only what we need to make the app work and to improve it.
- Account data: your email address, the authentication provider you chose (Google or Apple), and the name and profile photo that provider shares with us, if any. We need this to identify your account and send you essential service messages.
- Profile data: the answers you give when you set up the app: sex, date of birth, height, weight, goal weight, activity level, ethnicity, and how you heard about CalQuest. We use them to calculate your calorie, macro, water, and other daily targets (ethnicity only chooses which BMI ranges apply to you).
- Food, exercise, and weight logs: everything you track inside the app (meal entries, nutrition estimates, workouts, weight check-ins). This is the core data that powers your personal history and league scoring.
- Food photos and notes: photos you take or pick inside the app to get an AI-powered nutrition estimate, and any note you add to them. Photos are uploaded to cloud storage, sent with your note to OpenAI for analysis, and then stored so you can view your meal history. The app asks for your permission before it sends your first photo. You can delete any photo at any time.
- Device and usage analytics: events such as which screens you visit, feature usage, missions completed, and session timing, plus the campaign that brought you to the app. These events are linked to a random account ID, not to your name or email. We use them to understand how people use CalQuest so we can improve it.
- Crash and error data: if the app crashes, we collect a technical report (stack trace, device model, OS version) to help us find and fix bugs. No personal log content is included in crash reports.
- Ad-related identifiers: if you view ads in the app, AdMob may collect your device advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android) after you grant permission through the iOS App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt or the GDPR consent screen. You can withdraw this consent at any time in your device settings.
Health Connect and Apple Health
Syncing with Health Connect (Android) or Apple Health (iOS) is optional and off until you turn it on and grant permission. CalQuest only reads this data. It never writes to Health Connect or Apple Health.
- Steps: your daily step count, shown on the Steps screen against your step goal and used for daily step missions.
- Sleep: your sleep start and end times, used to show nightly sleep against your sleep goal and for daily sleep missions.
- Exercise sessions: workouts recorded by other apps or devices (type, start and end time), added to your exercise log and daily calorie budget.
- Active calories burned: only the calories burned during an imported workout, so that workout shows the calories your device recorded.
- Weight: weight readings from smart scales or other apps, added to your weight log and used to update your calorie targets.
This data is stored in your CalQuest account (on Supabase) only to provide these features to you. We do not sell it, share it with advertisers, use it for advertising, or send your health readings (steps, sleep times, workouts, weight values) to our analytics or crash reporting tools. Analytics may record only that a mission was completed, for example that a daily step goal was met. You can turn off sync and revoke access at any time in Health Connect or Apple Health settings, and deleting your account deletes this data as described below.
The use of information received from Health Connect will adhere to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
What other players can see
CalQuest has leagues and leaderboards. Other players in your league can see your display name, profile photo, level, total XP, streak, league division, badges, and whether you have PRO. They cannot see your food, weight, health, or profile data. Your display name starts as the name from Google or Apple (or the first part of your email address if no name is shared) and can be changed in the app. You can report or block any player from their profile.
Third-party processors
We share your data with the following processors only to the extent required for the stated purpose. Each has its own privacy policy and data processing agreement.
- Supabase: provides our authentication system, relational database (where your logs and account data are stored), and cloud file storage for food photos. Data is stored in the US by default.
- OpenAI:analyzes your food photos and notes to generate nutrition estimates. They are sent to the OpenAI API only after you agree in the app. Under OpenAI’s API terms, data sent through the API is not used to train OpenAI’s models by default.
- Google AdMob: serves in-app advertisements and manages GDPR User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent on Android and iOS App Tracking Transparency (ATT) consent on iOS. AdMob may collect advertising identifiers and usage signals subject to your consent choices.
- PostHog: collects product analytics events (screen views, feature interactions, missions completed) linked to a random account ID, to help us understand usage patterns and improve the app. PostHog does not receive your name, email address, or health readings.
- Sentry: receives crash reports and error logs to help us diagnose and fix technical issues. Sentry reports contain device and error context but are scrubbed of personal log content.
- Google Sign-In:if you choose to sign in with Google, Google authenticates you and provides your email address and basic profile to CalQuest. Google’s use of your data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Apple Sign-In:if you choose to sign in with Apple, Apple authenticates you and provides a verified email address (or a private relay address) to CalQuest. Apple’s use of your data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Data retention
We keep your account data and logs for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data (account record, food/exercise/ weight/steps/sleep logs, and food photos) within 30 days, except where we are required to retain records by law.
Analytics events and crash reports may be retained for longer for product improvement purposes. They carry only a random account ID, so they cannot be linked back to you once your account is deleted.
Children
CalQuest is not directed at children under 13. We require users to confirm they are 13 or older when creating an account (age gate). If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at calquestai@gmail.com.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can:
